White & Company to Feature Best Load™ at CSCMP Annual Global Conference

Blacksburg, VA - August 31, 2012 - White & Company, LLC (White & Co.), a packaging research and consulting firm, announced today that it will feature Best Load™, a packaging optimization software, at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) Annual Global Conference Booth 921 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, September 30-October 3, 2012.

"The cost of load failures ripples through the entire supply chain and hurts every link along the way," says Dr. Marshall White, White & Co. president and professor emeritus at Virginia Polytechnic's Center For Unit Load Design. "Whether it's the manufacturer or distributor taking back a rejected delivery, the warehouse worker cleaning a spill, an injured employee or disappointed consumer, everybody pays the price of load failure."

"Best Load™ analysis is a simple step in preventing load failure, because it uses computer modeling to quickly analyze and identify risk of failure points from unit-load design through storage and transport. Manufacturers, distributors and 3PLs at the conference should immediately recognize the opportunity Best Load™ brings to improve operational efficiency in the supply chain," adds White.

"The software is also an excellent diagnostic tool for cargo insurance claim evaluation. We have successfully identified load failure that was not the fault of the carrier, but rather poorly designed unit load packaging, " says White. "Because our software utilizes systems-based-design principles, it provides a structural analysis of the interactions between the pallet, package and material handling components."

"Our services ensure that packaging resources are employed safely and efficiently while optimizing raw material usage, improving packaging performance, minimizing waste and disposal costs, and reducing supply chain costs," says White.

In development since 2007, White & Co.'s proprietary packaging optimization software, Best Load™, utilizes more than 30 years of unit load research data cultivated under Dr. White's 31-year tenure as the Director of the Center for Packaging and Unit Load Design at Virginia Tech. Dr. White's innovative approach to load analysis earned him recognition by Modern Materials Handling Magazine as one of the top 10 materials handling professionals to watch in the new millennium.

White & Co. offers full supply chain operational efficiency evaluations and recommendations, from product palletizing to end-user storage and distribution. Through the use of proprietary software, field audits, and lab testing, White & Co. can assist supply chain managers not only with unit-load packaging analysis and optimization but also with risk mitigation.

Founded in 2007 by Dr. Marshall S. White as an independent packaging research, software development, and consulting firm, White & Co. focuses on delivering systems-based unit load solutions that will increase supply chain operational efficiency.

About White & Company: White & Company reduces supply chain vulnerability using proprietary modeling software, lab testing and field audits to aid manufacturers, distributors and 3PLs in eliminating waste, freight damage, and risk. Involving all supply chain stakeholders, we identify and analyze risk of failure points from unit-load packaging structural design analysis thru load storage, handling, and distribution.
